Trainer & Training Approval System

Supporting the professional development of Indiana’s early childhood and out of school professionals.

VISION

The Indiana Trainer and Training Approval System (Indiana T&TAS) supports the professional development of Indiana’s early childhood and out of school professionals. The Indiana T&TAS is built on the framework of the Indiana Core Knowledge and Competencies for Early Childhood, School-Age and Youth professionals and the Indiana Early Learning FOUNDATIONS.

Purpose

The Indiana T&TAS provides a consistent system of professional development for Indiana early childhood and out-of-school professionals. The T&TAS approves trainers and organizations which provide professional development to early childhood and out-of-school professionals in Indiana. The Indiana T&TAS maintains a list of approved trainers, organizations, and trainings to ensure that professional development activities meet quality standards.

The use of Approved Trainers and Trainings are not currently required by OECOSL. It is currently a voluntary process. We are building the list of Approved Trainers and Trainings to prepare for the future launch.

OECOSL will require the use of Approved Trainers and Approved Organizations in the future. At that time any training required for Indiana licensing and Paths to QUALITYTM will have to be provided by an approved trainer or approved organization.

An individual who meets the requirements for any of the approved trainer types and who is currently or plans to provide training to Indiana early childhood and out-of-school time professionals should apply.

Organizations that currently provide training or plan to provide training to Indiana early childhood and out-of-school time professionals and meet the requirements for organization approval should apply.

Information about the T&TAS and application process can be found in the Indiana Trainer and Training Approval System Manual and other resource documents. Links to these documents can be found on this webpage. In addition, staff at INAEYC can help answer any questions you have and provide support during the application process.

Yes, any individual who meets the requirements of an approved trainer can apply.

There are not any fees to apply for trainer or organization approval. The only potential cost is if additional training or education is needed to meet the approval requirements.

Trainer and organization approval is valid for three years. Approved trainers and organizations must complete a renewal application 40 to 60 business days prior to expiration.

Organizations wishing to renew their approval status must be in good standing with the Indiana T&TAS and will be asked to update information, including their list of trainers when appropriate.

Individual Approved Trainers and T&TAS Evaluated Organizations are required to submit all trainings for approval.  Training from the following Approved Organizations are regularly evaluated outside the T&TAS and therefore these organizations will not need to submit trainings for approval:

  1. Accredited Colleges and Universities (This applies to credit-based courses only.)
  2. Accredited by IACET
  3. Training Organizations Recognized by NWRA
  4. OECOSL Identified Partners, Federal Agencies and State Agencies

Refer to the Indiana Approved Training Organizations and Trainers List, which includes all currently approved trainings, to determine if a Training Approval Application is necessary.

Yes. If an individual from an approved training organization also wants to be an approved trainer outside of their employment by the approved organization, then a separate application would need to be completed. For example, if an employee of approved training organization ABC would like to offer a training to a group of Early Childhood professionals on a Saturday, outside their paid work time, the employee would need to apply for individual trainer approval to do so.
